Issue Fifteen- July 2021:
By Mercedes Barreto
Certain initiations require knowledge. Sometimes, to start one’s self into something, information of the craft is essential. Renee Graham is an actress and producer who is working her way up in the industry, building this knowledge to initiate such success. We read about her recent advancements in this guided article.
As an actress and producer, do you believe you have a special eye for detail when it comes to a role in a production, one that someone who solely acts with no producer experience might not have?
“As far as me having anything special when it comes to producing and acting, I don’t really think so. I’m more of an actress. My producer experience came from backing projects financially, that I believed would be good with pay and to just giving some input here and there. However, I would still love to learn more about producing, and to grow in that area!”
What defines your lifelong preparation and the dedication and work that went into your career, if applicable? What was the beginning of this for you?
“As a child, I always dreamed as many kids do of being famous. But life happened and time went by. In 2018, when the new Halloween movie came out, I was so excited and was determined to go to the convention in Cherry Hills, New Jersey. There, I made some connections and met some amazing actors, including Danielle Harris, Nick Castle, and a few others. I became part of a few groups on Facebook, one of which had Marian singing, considering she was in the movie Halloween in the year 2018. Through her, and through that group, I made some connections!
I also decided to take some acting classes online. Then it took off. I was cast to be in a few indie movies, one that was premiered not too long ago. I was encouraged by a friend to sign with a talent agency. Through them, I have done a music video.”

What would be the ideal level of success for you in a given time span? Possibly a year, 5, or ten years? What is true success to you, and what does success mean in your eyes?
“My ideal level of success and making it would be to be in a lifetime movie or a Hallmark movie. Or, my dream would be to be in a horror film with Danielle Harris and/or a Halloween movie! True success, to me, is just pushing every day to go further and be better than the day before!”
How has Covid affected your life, your schedule, and your routine or career in general? How so? Why?
“During the year Covid happened, my life was in chaos. I lost four family members during 2020, so I didn’t do too much that year. I acted in a short indie film, which was a 48-hour movie challenge with a few of my indie-movie friends, which was fun!”
If you could pick one genre of movie to play a role in, knowing that the movie would be a blockbuster hit, what would be the ideal role and movie genre if you could choose it?
“If I could pick, I’d say a horror genre movie for sure! It’s just fun to act in!”
What have been some recent projects or works, and where can someone find it if wishing to do so? Why should someone do so?
“An indie movie I did was just released titled “Holy Shit Man”. It’s funny and has great energy, too. It was my first project, and I was nervous. But I can say I learned a lot!”
Anything you would like to add here?
“I have an ad coming out soon for Blue Water Decor! It should be online within the month. I am also cast to be in an indie zombie movie called STZ. Not to mention, I got a small role in the HBO series ‘The White House Plumbers’, and filming starts in September of this year.”
