Issue Five- June 2019:
By Mercedes Barreto
What inspired you to begin doing this kind of music? This genre?
“When I first started with the idea of Dream Aria 15 years ago, I was thinking classical – rock- ambient – opera – metal; and at first, I had worked with 2 female opera singers, so the rock and the metal got pushed aside.
When they decided to leave, however, I was lucky enough to find Ann Burstyn, who was able to tackle any type of genre. So, I was able not only to add rock and metal but to also add world music and new age, as well as to keep opera and classical as part of our sound.
What inspired me was everything, such as books, music, the news, people, films, etc.”
Where do you see this work and this music heading in terms of success in a span of time? Years into the future?
“Dream Aria has already been a band for 15 years. We have 4 CDs out and are now working on a new one. I’m not sure what’s in the future, other than writing and recording more music. It would be nice to be on tour and bring our sound to our fans.”
If you could have your music play on any radio station, TV show, or another broadcasting medium, which would you pick and why? What music would you play there from your playlist of musical creations?
“Dream Aria has been aired on about 400 radio stations. Our video has been played on Direct TV and a few other cable companies.
We would like to expand more on both radio and Television.
Today we are #1 on the ReverbNation Global Charts, in comparison to over 3 million bands. Some other achievements include winning the 2017 DarkAwards.
Dream Aria has been in many magazines around the world, including Classic Rock Magazine (3 different times) and also the Fireworks magazine (4 different times). We were also on the cover of Indie Rock Magazine; these are just to name a few…
Do you have a message for potential future fans of your musical work? What would that message be?
We have never been a political band until now! The Perfect Storm is a political song that we felt strongly enough about in our current situation around the world, to take a stand.
Now, we are trying to get the message out.
