These are the indispensable attributes that define a certain successful radio broadcaster, illuminating his journey from fledgling talent to seasoned professional and the search for potential work-related opportunities.

Conor Michael John Walsh (born November 12, 1997), known professionally as Conor Walsh, is an American singer, songwriter, producer, actor, radio host, and entertainment journalist. He has released 3 studio albums, 2 studio EP’s, 1 live EP, and several singles. After earning his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Music Industry at the College of Saint Rose, Conor worked in radio at Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley, hosting shows such as Keepin’ Company w/ Conor, In Touch, and Townsquare Spotlight from 2021 to 2024. He now is seeking professional work-related ventures and other beneficial opportunities.

If you are looking to hire a program director, editor, brand manager, showrunner, public relations director, radio host, etc. Conor is the guy to choose above all else. Here’s why.

Excellent Communication Skills

At the heart of radio broadcasting lies the ability to communicate effectively. A talented broadcaster has a powerful voice, not just in terms of volume, but in clarity and expression. They articulate their thoughts beautifully, engaging listeners through:

Clarity and Pronunciation: Mastery of language, ensuring every word is clear and precise.

IF you are going to be on the air, having good pronunciation and a clear sound is key. When looking for engaging vocals, it’s nice to work with someone who has this skill down to a science, not just a newcomer who requires the training and an extended learning curve.

Engaging Storytelling: The gift of narrating stories that captivate audiences, drawing them into various subjects.

It’s known that Conor Walsh has a true knack for inspiring and captivating all the ears and minds touched deeply and meaningfully through the power of broadcasting.

Active Listening: Conor Walsh has a broadcaster’s ability to listen attentively during interviews, responding thoughtfully to foster meaningful dialogue.

Diverse Knowledge of the Field

A well-rounded broadcaster possesses a breadth of knowledge that allows them to tackle a variety of topics. This includes:

Current Events: Staying abreast of local, national, and global happenings to provide up-to-date information.

Cultural Awareness: Understanding and appreciating diverse cultures to connect with a wide audience.

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with the technical aspects of broadcasting, including equipment selection and audio editing.

INSPIRATIONS

Over his career, Conor has taken heavy influences from artists from the early 2000s and 2010s such as Matchbox Twenty, Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, 3 Doors Down, Daughtry, Five For Fighting, Hootie and the Blowfish, Amos Lee, Passenger, and Ed Sheeran. He also admires Country artists such as Zac Brown Band, Eli Young Band, Luke Combs, Toby Keith, George Strait, and Restless Heart. Some of his longest, and most enduring influences include Bob Seger, Meat Loaf, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Phil Collins, and Jimmy Buffett.

Advanced Proficiency in Required Programs

Technical expertise is crucial in the radio industry, and a proficient broadcaster demonstrates advanced skills in:

Audio Editing Software: Mastering platforms like Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or Audacity to ensure high-quality audio production.

Broadcasting Equipment: Operating microphones, mixers, and digital broadcasting tools with confidence and precision.

Social Media and Promotion Tools: Utilizing platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for engaging audiences and promoting shows.

AWARDS & ACCOLADES

Conor has been the recipient of 3 Independent Music Network Award Nominations, 3 NYSBA Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, and winner of PBS’s Celebration of Music Talent Competition. Songs such as “Spend Some Time,” “Yes,” “Regret,” “Dance With Me,” and “My Eyes” have received radio airplay in multiple countries, including on local Hudson Valley radio stations such as 97.7/106.1 WEXT, Q92.1 Lite-FM, and KISS 96.1. He has appeared on television programs like AHA! A House For Music to promote his 2022 album, Always & Forever. He was just recently featured in The Lifted Project’s “We Won’t Be Broken,” (labeled the “We Are the World” of New York) and will be included in the accompanying upcoming documentary. His recent stage credits include Massachusetts-based comedy troupe The Berserkshires, The CENTER for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck’s Little Shop of Horrors, and Core Theatre Group’s Rocky Horror Show where he played Eddie, made famous by the legendary Meat Loaf.

Years of Proactive Experience

Experience is an invaluable asset in the radio broadcasting industry. A talented broadcaster often spends years honing their craft through:

Hands-On Training: Gaining practical experience in internships or part-time roles that provide real-world broadcasting exposure.

Networking: Building relationships with industry professionals, from engineers to fellow broadcasters, which opens doors to new opportunities.

Continual Learning: Committing to lifelong learning by attending workshops, seminars, and industry events to stay current and inspired.

UPCOMING ALBUM, NEVER BE A HIT

Conor is currently working on his next album, Never Be a Hit, which takes inspirations from various genres in which he grew up with and fell in love with. Never Be a Hit will incorporate Heartland Rock, Pop, Folk, Country, Blue-Eyed Soul, and Alternative, all interwoven by his signature style. The album will include 9 brand new, never-released songs, along with reimaginings of some of his older songs that he felt didn’t get a great run the first time around and deserve a second life. Lead singles include “Safe Haven,” “Pleasure & Peace,” and “Screaming (Can’t Speak),” out now. The album is expected to release at the end of 2024/beginning of 2025.

Conor says, “Never Be a Hit is all about self-discovery. While my last album Always & Forever was (mostly) written and recorded during the pandemic and greatly focused on the theme of loss, Never Be a Hit is all about trying to find oneself. It’s about dealing with the aftermath of losing oneself and rebuilding once all the dust settles. There’s a lot of fun stuff on this album, but there is a lot of deep stuff that will resonate with anyone who has felt like they’ve had to restart from scratch.”

SUMMER MUSIC VIDEO CHALLENGE

To challenge himself creatively, Conor Walsh is doing a Summer 2024 Music Video Challenge where he plans to release a new music video each week for a previously released song. Each video is completely DIY, and is a way to keep Conor not only active, but to create consistent content to help engagement with fans, new and old. You can watch new videos here.
