Q&A

For readers discovering you for the first time, how would you describe Brinck as an artist?

“I don’t even know where to begin here. I don’t think about that too much. I want my music to be something you listen to when you’re chilling, when you’re working on art, when you driving with the windows down, at the beach, while you’re cooking. That’s always how I see my music being listened to and may be the best way Is want to describe it.”

You began writing songs at a young age. What originally inspired you to start creating music?

“I remember around 3rd grade people started acting like I was good at music. It wasn’t like they were blowing smoke either. Even as an 8 year old I could tell it was genuine. People reacting like that, combined with the genuine pure enjoyment that fills my body when I do it, it seemed like an undeniable path to follow. Once I started writing, it became therapeutic for me. It soothed every emotion I was feeling, even at 9 years old. I also love attention. I’m a middle child.”

How has your songwriting process evolved since your earliest releases?

“I used to write a lot more in sessions and as of late I’ve been writing a lot alone and bringing the song to sessions to develop. I don’t know how that switch happen but who knows it might switch back next week.”

Many of your songs explore relationships and emotional experiences. How do you decide which personal stories to share through your music?

“It’s scary to think everyone can open up my diary. I write about everything in the moment but whether or not it gets released to its full extent is usually based on a gut feeling or to save it for another song.”

Who were some of your biggest musical influences growing up, and who inspires you today?

“Growing up I was obsessed with Hillary Duff, Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber haha. Currently I’m loving Suki Waterhouse.”

Where can we hear more of your music, and why should we?

“You can hear Brinck on all streaming platforms! You should listen if you want to chill out!!!”
