Q&A

For readers discovering your music for the first time, how would you describe who Kurt Alan Shobe is as both an artist and a songwriter?

“Kurt Alan Shobe is a seasoned artist and songwriter, who writes about his lived experience. That is why his music and storytelling are authentic and why it resonates with listeners.”

Your songs often reflect real-life experiences. How much of your personal journey finds its way into your songwriting?

“Kurt connects with his listeners on a personal and emotional level. Folks say that it seems like Kurt is singing just to them, as his warm voice wraps the listener into the story and makes them feel like they are right there with him.”

Is there a particular song in your catalog that best represents who you are today?

“There really is not any one song in the catalog that describes who I am as an artist right now. I have been exposed to and learned many different styles of music over the years, and to some degree all of those styles present themselves in the songs. That is why you will hear a western swing themed song, along with a song heavily influenced by southern rock, and another influenced by nineties country all on the same album. What will remain consistent across all of the music is the emphasis on telling a good story that people can relate to, and providing top notch production and musicianship to deliver that story ina dynamic and emotional way.”

You’ve shared stages with several well-known country artists. What have you learned from those experiences?

“I have had the opportunity to work with a number of national artists over the years. What it has taught me is the value of being humble and appreciating everyone that listens to the music. I am gratified and humbled at every show by the folks that dance to the songs, sing along, and take the time to meet us and let ius know how much they appreciate what we do. I have had people ask me many time when discussing the veteran artists we have met and shared the stage with, don’t they get tired of playing thee same songs over and over? The short answer is no, they don’t, but like. me, they do it for the fans and the love of making music. It is a business, and they do it for a living, but mainly they do it because they love making music for people.”

Where can we hear more, and why should we?

“You can hear all of my music by accessing the Kurt Alan Shobe or Steel Skarecrow (my band) pages on all social media (Spotify, Pandora, Facebook, etc.). “
