Can we truly and personally connect with God?

Previously we introduced you to an incredible author, Keith Lake, and his mission with God, in this news column publication. Even if we hear God’s word, and remain faithful, what about the divine connection to God? Is this something we can feel or experience, and how do we do it?

“However, it takes true devotion to go farther than a prayer received, beyond blessings and even miracles, to hear God’s word.”

If we hear God’s word, then we are truly faithful to him. But in order to go from hearing to actually connecting with God, there is another step to achieve further along the path.

“T.C. told me what I needed to do: pray, ask God to forgive me, and confess my sins. I tried to think of every sin I had ever committed, but I knew I could never list them all. So, right before I went to sleep that night, I prayed and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. I became a Christian.

When I woke up the next day, I was different. I had a new peace. My friends, including my brother, could see the change in me—and they didn’t like it. I talked to them about the Lord, hoping they would get saved too, but they weren’t interested. They were mad that I had changed.”

“I met Bobby at the state hospital when he had been found Incompetent to proceed. He seemed normal and was deeply religious- he called himself a Christian. I am a Christian as well, so we talked about the Bible together. But even though he was polite and medicated, I could tell he wasn’t ready for release, and neither did the hospital staff. 

Later, he was ruled competent to proceed, and I believe that’s when he went to trial. Many believe he was faking his religious delusions. It was a tragic and complex case.”
