Issue Eighteen- October 2021:
By Mercedes Barreto
When you hear music, what does it take to get you singing along to the rhythm? Does this reflect on a musician’s courage, to share that creative content curated by bandmates and other musicians, so you, the audience, can hear? Legacy Of The Beast will surely get you singing along. We read upon their greatest recent successes, in this guided yet informative article.
What are some notable advancements for Legacy of the Beast so far this year 2021? What is in store for 2022?
“Legacy of the Beast is a tribute to Iron Maiden. The band came together in 2019 and was poised to begin performances in 2020 when the pandemic put the entire world into quarantine. In 2021, as things began to re-open, we finally started to book concerts and perform. We should close out the year with at least 4 notable performances. For 2022 we have made many inroads with many new music venues and expect a successful year ahead.”
What defines or has defined success for your musical group in terms of progress over the years? Would you say that you have progressed, and how so?
“We define success in the only way that matters, which is audience acceptance. Iron Maiden is a challenging band to replicate and requires considerable musicianship and physical stamina to perform well. If the audience gives us their appreciation and energy, we consider that success.”
What are the top 2 songs that you feel resonate with both the public during these hard times, meaning that they are worthy of being heard, and that is representative of the music created by the band this year? Why so, if applicable?
“I think each member of the band would have a different opinion regarding which songs resonate the most. But I am of the opinion the song “Wasted Years” is the one that stands out. Our audience is often a mix of ages, but many of them are older and grew up in the 1980s. I think this song brings out the emotion in people. Everyone from time to time looks back over their lives and second-guesses the decisions they made. But as we learn through experience, you must look forward “don’t waste your time always searching for those wasted years”. The fact that the entire audience sings along to this one is evidence of how much it resonates with them. This is why we have been closing our set with this song.”

Has Covid had an impact on the bands’ affairs or routine in general? Would you say in some way, that the storm has passed, or is there worse to come, and how do you believe it will affect the group?
“Yes, COVID crushed us in 2020 for sure. But unlike a lot of bands, we continued to rehearse regularly, so when things opened up, we were super tight and ready to rock.”
What are 2 words that describe the style of Legacy of the Beast, in terms of its most recent performances and recordings, and the vibe in between?
“I would say “Dedicated” and “Passionate“. These two character traits are held by all members of the band. Sometimes we disagree about things, but we are dedicated and passionate about delivering an inspiring performance for our fans and that fuels us as individuals and as a group.”
Where can we find the band’s music, and why should we? What makes Legacy of the Beast, a special and one-of-a-kind band?
“You can find videos of our performances on YouTube. Here are a few links from our last two shows.

Questions For The Photographer-
What was the uniqueness or the flare you had perceived when photo shooting Legacy of the Beast? How and why so? What lured you in?
“A very animated band, and tight in their music, theatrical in their performance. They used props, which is always good. And the musicianship was amazing. I saw this band at The Chance in Poughkeepsie NY, and I was hired to photograph the band that came on after them. But when they started playing, I started shooting. So glad I did, since they put on a great show.”
Do you observe the band as being intensely musical on and offset, or how would you describe their way of being, both on and offset, and does this reflect in their performance?
“To be honest, I have only seen them on stage, although I have spoken with several members of the band after the show. They’re a great bunch of guys and are very dedicated to their musical journey.”
