How can awareness intertwine with music? What is the significance of Libricide, and why should we listen to the music behind this ground-breaking band? We hear about their most recent successes in this guided yet informative article.

What does Libricide mean? And, what does it stand for? Is there a representation of a common theme or belief of sorts? What is the significance?

“Libricide literally translates to the destruction of books or libraries. In modern times that would encompass CD’s, DVD’s; knowledge in general. It’s meant not to be a proponent for, but rather a reference to and bring awareness of, the age-old destruction of knowledge so prevalent across history and society.”

What do all the band members do? How do they contribute, collaborate, and get along, on and off the music set?

“Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses which we try to take into account when delegating tasks. Harun has handled the majority of the songwriting, booking, press, promotion, etc. up until this point just out of sheer necessity. Dylan, however, contributed a track to our most recent full-length effort, ‘Consilience’. He is also our resident guitar virtuoso, contributes to show planning, promotion, and supports with Libricide Studios Productions (our online content and viral production arm of the group [See ‘Libricide Studios’ on YouTube]), among other things. James is a phenomenal drummer and supports with rehearsal productions, running backing tracks for live shows, audio and video editing and playthroughs, and more.”

If the world could only hear music by Libricide entirely, and for five minutes, on every radio, ipod, and cellphone, what do you believe people would play? What would you recommend that people listen to in such a hypothetical scenario?

“Good question! The beauty of our sound is that we really feel like we have something for everyone. Between our last two records we touch on a multitude of genres from rock, to pop, acoustic ballads, progressive music, metal, hip-hop, and everything in between! In that sense it would probably be whatever resonates most with each person at the time.

We would recommend them checking out our most recent album ‘Consilience’ in its entirety. There’s something there everyone can enjoy. But we are super proud of the way the song “Them Without You” came out – an emotional, almost power-pop ballad that has strong breakout potential.”

What is an original song of choice by Libricide which the band feels most strongly resonates with the audience? What song does the band feel most strongly about in general terms? Genre, or style?

“There are lots depending on the vibe of the audience. For instance, “Work Right Now” (from our most recent effort) is a big motivator track rooted in hip-hop off our last record and dubbed our new “hustler’s anthem”. “Them Without You” is a beautiful, genuinely heart-felt ballad about outgrowing people around you who may no longer support the vision you have for your life. “Acceptable Losses” is a death metal song about War and Relationships – great workout tune! “Fork Union” is about the amazing things people can do when we combine our strengths and put our efforts together. It really depends on what you’re feeling! But it’s all genuinely superb and there to support most any mood.”

What are some highlights of this year so far for the band 2022? What is in store 2023?

“This year has already started off great for us thankfully. We just finished up and released our sophomore album, ‘Consilience’ on April 8th (available for download and streaming anywhere music is sold), a labor of love that was years in the making. We also got to have our Record Release Show/Party at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie, NY the very same night – playing with Tantric, a band Harun was a big fan of and grew up listening to (very much a bucket list item coming full circle)!

We are currently working on continuing promotion to support the release of Consilience, music videos and other content for said album, as well as more content for Libricide Studios. We also have some promising show announcements on the horizon so be on the lookout!”

Where can we learn all about the band’s music, and why should we do so? Why should Libricide ultimately be considered as an iconic group for the ages?

“We are currently updating our Audio and Archives sections on www.Libricide.com to encompass more of the story behind our history and work. Libricide stands out amongst its peers in its brand-ability, approachable songwriting, strong sound, stage show, and more. We write timeless music that anyone can relate to, and follow in the footsteps of much of the great artists we all grew up on. You hear that in our music. We are one of the natural torch bearers to carry music into the next era.”

Anything to add here?

“Please check out our new record, ‘Consilience’ wherever music is sold or streamed – you will not be disappointed!

Questions for the Photographer-

What is true about Libricide? Something that people might not know until you tell them?

“These guys are true professionals. I had been in communication with the band hoping to set up a shoot, and they kept telling me when the right venue happens… Well, it did! And they kept their word about hiring me. I’m so glad they did. It’s very professional high energy rock… A great bunch of guys, who are not acting like super stars; which they are destined to be!

If you could recommend them to a venue, where do you believe you would start with that? What is the place where you believe they are most destined for success musically, or where will they make the start to fame?

“In all honesty, I photographed them at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie NY. That is the premier venue in this area, and I cant see them doing better than that, since you have to be good to play The Chance.”
