What makes a crowd groove and enjoy the performance? Liliane Brown & the Guackamoléys will put you on your feet and teach you the steps. We read up on their latest success in this guided rising talent article.

What started your passion for music and the band?

“Music started for me at a very young age. From age 7 to 18 years old, I was taught classical piano. I was not a music reader. I learned that I play by ear and memory over the traditional way. I was in different bands thru high school. I played bass for hardcore bands over the years.

Recently, A friend of mine asked me to play bass on his project, a fun feel project and with good original groove rock songs. Different than other music I’ve heard or played, and I was instantly hooked.

I’ve gathered a group of talented musicians that share the vibe and want to participate in bringing the music to the masses. Having a group of people that want to be in the band vs. “need “to be in the band was critical in moving forward.”

What is a highlight for 2022? What success is expected for 2023?

“Two highlights. Playing vocal gigs with the group. Five people. Myself bass. Craig is on drums. Mike and Joe on guitar and the excellent Liliane Brown on vocals. The regrouping of the band was the highlight of 2022. And The Music Being recognized by fans is enormous.

Highlight of 2023. We are now under management. Booking gigs for spring/summer. We played several dates at clover stadium (boulders baseball team) in Pomona, NY. The Guackamoléys Facebook page is off to a good start. Pics. Videos etc. Interactions w interested fans are a plus. The music business has changed. Long gone are the keg Parties at houses. That gave instant followers at venues. A lot of online self-promotion and hard work finally paid off.”

If you could select two songs that you feel best to resonate with your listening audience, what two songs would they be, and why so?

“Everyone loves covers. From van Morrison s Moondance to Miles Davis. All blues. And Buckingham’s mercy, mercy gets the people moving n grooving. We play fun feel, good original groove rock. There are original songs about growth, sharing, and life. For example, Garden. An original. It is about sharing the good things in life. Helping others grow Papa gator Is about looking inside yourself to discover that all you need is right in front of you. Our job is to make the audience forget their daily struggles for a few hours.

If we succeed with that, then the job is done.”

When do you feel music has taken off for you, and where? What moment did you think took the band to a whole other level?

“When playing out, the audience permanently recognizes that the music is special, and there is a big applause, smiles and dancing. It’s not the original tracks that encode an emotional response, and we are more significant than other bands. Our music is starting to take off recently due to playing out. We have a group of bandmates that wants to make this happen, and it’s been the key to moving forward.”

If you could collaborate with two other bands, no matter which ones, who would you rock with, and what would you work on? Why and how so?

“It’s hard to say. Good music is good music. If Hendrix or the dead were around, we’d work with them. But, instead, we have a phish-like quality to the music. Like long Jams, I’m a big Les Claypool / Primus fan. But that is a whole other story.”

Where can we find your band’s music, and why should we do so? What makes your band an icon for its genre?

“We only have Facebook and Instagram to find song samples. More is coming soon, and we actually have a recording studio in Suffern, NY.

Catch us live. Please message us on Facebook. The Guackamoléys. It would be best if you came to see us live. We’ll play parties, etc. We need to share this music to raise the vibes. People need live music. It invokes magic. It makes people dance. Feel good. And forget their problems. The essential quality of the band is that we are bringing back rock music that’s been lost in a sea of auto-tune hip-hop. Music has the power to transform people. Truly different than anything out there. That’s what makes us stand out.

The music is like steely Dan met The Rolling Stones, hung out with Red Hot Chili Peppers, and had a kid with James brown. Lol. A proper mixture of all good things. Just like Guacamole. All good ingredients together make something more prominent than the sum of its parts. Nothing out there compares to what we have.”

Questions For The Photographer-

What was your favorite part of this photoshoot?

“There was no one point that was my favorite; the whole show was terrific, with a good groove by a bunch of good musicians, but if I must say what my favorite part was, it was when the lead guitarist pulled out a slide and started playing slide guitar, that’s not something you I see very often with local bands.”

What can you work on in a future shoot? Something to explore further?

“I would love to work with the band again on a bigger stage with better sound and lights. Also, they would make an excellent shoot, not that this one was bad.”
