Q&A

What influences—musical or spiritual—have shaped your vocal style and artistic identity the most?

The Influencer’s that have shaped my vocal style are Earth, Wind and Fire, Patrice Rushen, take 6, Cece Winans, Kathleen Battle, Brandy Norwood and the list go on etc. (Smile) However; I have learned to come into my own artistic identity. I can’t be anyone but me so; I am on my own journey! Thankful to GOD for this!”

Many of your songs feel both celebratory and healing at the same time. Is that emotional duality something you consciously aim for?

Yes, I aim to make songs that heal from the inside and out. The LORD has me wired that way, and I am honored to be a blessing through song! Thank you for the compliment!”

You’ve built a strong independent career within gospel and soul music. What are the biggest challenges and rewards of that path?

“How much time do we have! LOL….a lot of lessons in this game! Thank God for the rewards through all the bought lesson in this music business! However, I always say “Success is not a
destination; it’s a journey!”

How do you want listeners to feel after experiencing your music for the first time?

I want to feel whatever emotions come when they listen. Everyone’s emotions are different! However, the LORD gives it to them! (Smile)”
