What started this tribute band and why?

“First, I would like to clarify the word “Tribute” as I typically associate that with actually looking like the original band. Although we do not, we replicate the actual music as close as possible to the original lineup and are often told by audience members, fan base, and followers that we are the closest that they have ever heard in comparison to other bands attempting the same difficult feat.

Approximately five years ago, as a lead guitarist, I set out to study the amazing guitar dynamics of the master David Gilmour. After gaining the confidence and after many long
hours, days, weeks, and months of practice and study, I set out and met some local musicians at a nearby studio to see if something could come of it. I learned quickly that many did not have the time or patience and did not share the same enthusiasm as I did. I continued the long hours of practice and began to advertise in search of those who may share the same interests. The goal was to assemble the right people who are committed to delivering this amazing archive of music to everyone who loves “The Music of Pink Floyd.”

What motivates all band members daily?

“I would have to say that we are motivated by the results of what we set out to do. The music is very technical and difficult to replicate. For example, we will propose a song to add to the setlist. Every member will set out to learn their parts. When we make a first run at a song in rehearsal, we often look around the room at each other in amazement of how true to the original the song is being recreated. It is a strong motivational process that builds week by week.”

How would you describe the dynamic between band mates?

Because all band mates share the same love of the music, our foundation is built on that. That is what inspires us to work hard together to be able to deliver this project as it should be.”

Is there a particular song that resonates the most with audiences? Why and how so?

“Wow! This is a difficult question as our fan base is composed of Pink Floyd enthusiasts who are really moved by any song that is played. To answer your question in completion I am probably going to step out and say “Comfortably Numb.” When being performed I see the audience singing along and feeling the moment. The song is very moving and very popular still today on many radio stations and therefore reaches several generations of fans.”

What are some notable venues the band has played so far?

“We had the honor to play at The Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie NY. This venue has been around for a very long time, and we had the opportunity to play on the same stage once walked on by David Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Police, Guns & Roses, and even the Rolling Stones to name a few. We also had the honor to play in the “On The Lawn” series in Sugar Loaf NY. This series was established by the previous owners of the “The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center,” Originally known as the “Lycian Theater” in Sugar Loaf. This terrific outdoor venue, with a professional staff and a huge crowd to play for, was a deeply rewarding experience.”

Questions for The Photographer-

What made this photoshoot unique? Why and how so?
“I never met these guys before but have some mutual friends. Tony the singer, and I had some conversations about shooting the band. They mainly wanted video which I do, but don’t like doing a whole night of just video. I said I would do it along with some stills as well. Although I am not a big fan of Pink Floyd, I thought they gave an exact reproduction of one of the bands shows. The sound was perfect.  These guys knew what needed to be done from the first note to the last.”
Would you recommend them, and why?
“Because of their sounding very much like Pink Floyd which is not easy to do. Any venue that would want a very professional-sounding band reproducing some great classic rock, will want to hire this band. Today all the rage in your better music venues is Tribute Bands. These guys should have no problem finding work.”
