What started the band? Why and how so?

“That Guy Larry started as a bit of a joke. Larry’s brother-in-law, Chris, started dating a drummer, and the first time they all met, Chris on guitar, Larry on bass, and Beth on drums. Chris jokingly said, “Hey, we have a band here.” What started as casual jam sessions quickly turned into something more.

At first, we were literally a “living room band”, the adult version of a garage band. The vision was always to create a dynamic pop/rock band with both male and female lead vocals. Enter Tony. Tony and Larry had been making music together since the ‘80s, and when they reunited, it was clear their musical connection was still strong.

Then came Caitlin, about a year and a half ago had been approached by a mutual friend asking if she was singing and looking for a band. From her very first night in the studio, we knew she was the missing piece. Her vocals and stage presence blended effortlessly with Tony’s, elevating our vision of a dual-fronted band.

Over time, our lineup evolved. Tony and Larry met Bob at a jam session, where Bob and Larry locked in as a rhythm section and knew they wanted to play together, Bob is now on drums. Tony then met Ron, whose precision guitar work sealed the deal and Ron became our lead guitarist.

With That Guy Larry growing from three to five members, rehearsals had to move out of the living room and into a converted garage studio. And here we are today, still evolving, still rocking.”

Where are some top-notch venues you’ve played so far?

“We’ve had the honor of playing at some incredible venues and festivals, including Barton Orchards, the Sunflower Festival, Tequila Sunrise, Mohansic Grill, and Lucy’s in Pleasantville. Each show brings a different energy, and we love connecting with audiences across the Hudson Valley, Putnam, Westchester and New Fairfield.”

What is the dynamic between the members of the band on and off the set, and how would you describe each member?

“We’re more than just bandmates, we’re family. Our rehearsals often feel like a mix of making music and hanging out at Larry’s Homemade garage studio. We also spend time together even outside of the band, going to dinners, family parties, seeing other bands play and more.

Here’s a little insight into each member:
Larry ( The Bassist) – The captain of the ship, always keeping us on course.
Tony ( Male Lead Singer ) – The father of the band, bringing wisdom and experience.
Bob ( The Drummer ) – The guy who’s always smiling, no matter what, good, bad, or ugly. And he’s never without a chicken wing.
Ron ( Lead Guitar ) – The king of dry humor, puns, and quick-witted remarks, some delivered with a smirk, others with a frown.
Caitlin ( Lead Female Singer ) – A breath of fresh air, bringing energy and chemistry to the mix.
We have fun, we push each other musically, and we feed off each other’s energy both on and off stage.”

If the band could work with any three top executives in the world, who would they choose, and why?

“Jack Welchman – His leadership expertise would help us navigate the business side of music.
Scooter Braun – Love him or hate him, his industry knowledge is undeniable, and he knows how to grow artists.
Taylor Swift & Dolly Parton (Yes, we’re cheating and picking four!) – Two of the most brilliant minds in music. Taylor for her marketing genius and ability to connect with fans, and Dolly for her timeless songwriting, business savvy, and pure legend status.”

What are some up-and-coming announcements for 2025?

“2025 is all about new music! We’re working on expanding our repertoire and further developing some original material. We’re also expanding into new venues, reaching even more audiences across the region.”

Where can we hear more, and why should we do so? What makes this band iconic?

“You can catch us live throughout the Hudson Valley, Westchester, Putnam, and Fairfield counties. We’re also on YouTube, where you can find our latest performance reel.

Why should you listen? Because we bring chemistry, energy, and an engaging stage presence that keeps our fans coming back. We don’t just play music, we create an experience, bringing people together through great songs and good vibes for all ages and music genres.”

Anything to add?

“This is more than just music—it’s a journey, and we want you on the ride with us. With every song, every show, and every new step, we’re growing, evolving, and turning up the energy. The road ahead is wide open, and we cannot wait to see where it goes.”

Questions For The Photographer-

What is something interesting or musically unique that stood out to you or in these photos during the shoot?
“The location for the shoot worked well, Lucys Garage, a very popular music venue that I have shot at before. I liked the fact that there was a male and female lead singer, neither of them playing an instrument, just singing, and they played off of each other well.”
Do you recommend for future venues and music opportunities?
“If you want to hear some great songs, sung by two great lead vocalists, and an outstanding band, check these guys out.”
