Why do people go to the Hudson Valley for the music scene, and when is the prime season?
“Music lovers in the Hudson Valley love to go out to hear good music. It is hard to say what prime season is if there are any number of venues that offer outside dining and drinking and provide live music along with it; this could be restaurants, wineries, breweries, of which there are many now, along with indoor venues such as The Chance in Poughkeepsie, The Town Crier in Beacon, and Daryl’s House in Pawling. Check out one of the many Facebook Pages that offer up info about where to go and who’s playing, such as The Hudson Valley Live Music Directory.”
Where are some of the primary live music venues that are a must-go?
“The top venues are The Chance, The Turning Point, The Town Crier, and Daryl House. They all have been around the longest and offer the best live entertainment in the area.”
Who are your favorite musicians of all time in the Hudson Valley area?
“Where do I begin? It all depends on the type of music you like. I can’t say who I like the best, personally, as I wouldn’t want to leave someone out.”
What are some unique things you have seen on stages in the Hudson Valley?
“There is an act called Puddles Pity Party, which I photographed at Daryl’s House; from what I understand, he has even been on National TV in one of those Top Talent type competitions. There have been bands at The Chance that have also used large blow-up props.”
Where can we connect with more Hudson Valley music, or what is essential to know when connecting? What draws you into the town and its music overall?
“The best place to look for listings of Hudson Valley Music Venues is to go to Facebook and search for Hudson Valley Music, and a long list will come up, too long to include here.”
Anything to add here?
“The Hudson Valley has long been a haven for good music and good musicians; I have been in the music scene here since the middle 60s, and it has flourished and is still growing strong. Get out to hear some live music.”
