What got the band started in making music?
“So, independently we were all in different successful bands in the area and knew and respected each other. As the music scene started changing, bands started breaking up and we all found ourselves looking to continue to make music. Paul and I started a band called Breaking Crazy, then when that ran its course, we decided to stick together and form The Hype. It’s been going for almost 10 years now.”
What is the routine and band dynamic like? Why and how so?
“We run a pretty simple formula. Songs are chosen, and everyone independently works on them, we schedule a rehearsal and go over what we all learned, then bring it to the stage. I pretty much handle all of the business, so everyone can focus on the music.”
What are some planned venues the band is planning to play?
“The Hype is excited to bring the party to a variety of venues this season! We’re currently booking a mix of high-energy private events—like weddings, corporate parties, and milestone celebrations—as well as larger public shows, including community days, summer concert series, and town festivals. These events let us do what we do best: get the crowd moving and make every performance unforgettable, whether it’s for 50 guests or 5,000.”
IF the band could choose any two industry executives to join forces with, who are they collaborating with?
“If we could choose any two industry executives to join forces with, we’d collaborate with Rick Rubin for his legendary ear and ability to bring out the best in artists of any genre, and Rob Light, Head of Music at CAA, for his deep industry connections and talent for putting the right artists in front of the right audiences. Together, they’d help us shape our sound into something unforgettable and bring it to the biggest stages.”

What upcoming music releases can we expect to hear soon?
“As a cover band, we primarily focus on delivering high-energy renditions of the songs people already know and love—but we like to keep things fresh. We’re currently revamping a few classics with our own twist, so fans can expect some unique arrangements and mashups in our upcoming shows. While writing original music isn’t our main focus, we’ve dabbled in it before—and who knows? A surprise original release might make its way into our setlist soon.”
Where can we learn more about this band, and what makes them iconic?
“You can learn more about The Hype by following us on social media @TheHypeBand and checking out our website – www.thehype-ny.com. What makes us iconic isn’t just the music—it’s the experience. We don’t just play the hits; we bring them to life. From epic throwbacks to today’s chart-toppers, every show is a non-stop party where the crowd is just as much a part of the performance as we are. High energy, big personality, and a setlist that keeps the dance floor packed—that’s The Hype.”
Anything to add here?
“We’re all about creating an unforgettable live experience. Whether it’s a packed club, a private event, or a festival stage, our goal is to get people dancing, singing along, and having the time of their lives. Giving them a chance to , at least for a few hours, forget about the stress of “life” and just let loose and enjoy the moment. What sets us apart is our energy, crowd interaction, and a setlist tailored to the vibe of the event—from timeless classics to modern hits. We’re reliable, professional, and love what we do. If you want a band that keeps the party alive, we’re it.”
Questions For The Photographer:
How does it feel taking photos for this band? Was it unique in any way? Why and how so?
“Well, here’s how it feels: this band is the brainchild of my son, Mike. Although I work with bands all the time, for some reason, we never got to work together until now. So, it felt terrific doing this shoot, working with my son and his band.”
Do you recommend them?
“I would recommend this band to any venue that likes good music played by seasoned musicians, and it’s the kind of music, from what I have seen, to get the crowd up off its feet.”
