What is your musical style or vibe?

“My style is primarily early 90s, RnB New Jack Swing style since I started working with Dr. Freeze. I also used to be a rapper, and my rap speed is like Head Murry, Marky Mark, and The Funky Bunch, and I only do clean rap.”

When or where do you feel most musically inspired?

“Only time I feel musically inspired is when I’m on-stage doing stand-up, or I see cussing cheap music on tv or radio that the youth listen to today. But I’m inspired to mentor as many as possible to get them off the wrong path to destruction.”

Is there a song in the works that you would like to describe to the reading audience?

“I am still working on a song that my dad wrote in the 70s when he was also the bass player for the band STRANGE BREED, which opened up for Toy Factory in 74 in Charlotte. Freeze polished his old song, LADY, which he mixed into a digital format in 04, and I’m currently finishing where Dr. Freeze left off. The single I’m currently working on is a clean rap song about my elementary school teacher Mrs. Patterson, a track Dr. Freeze and I were working on in 2004; it will be a surprise. I was still waiting to be ready to speak about it.”

How would you describe your current and most recent success in music? Why and how so?

“To be continued. The name of the album we worked on in 2004 was called It’s Payback Time. Just wait, as Mike told us on the phone that night. “It’s payback time…you know what I mean.

After Mike left the message, It’s payback time, on Freeze’s answer machine in the studio, Michael called freeze a few days later on the night of May 10th, 2004, at 9 PM, and it was the first time I met Micheal. Since Freeze made me his casting director, he assigned me to take his essential calls. I think Freeze had me take a call from Mike on purpose to see my reaction and to get a chuckle out of it when I thought it was someone else. Freeze was tied up mixing the album and asked me to keep Mike company on the phone until he was done. Freeze grinned a little and said, “Wade go in the other room and relax and talk to the man for a bit.” I continue to ask his name. Finally, he said, “It’s Mike.” You must be Wade in the water”…ha ha ha.” I thought to myself, “oh, Mike got jokes too. ” I replied, yes sir, I get it all the time, brother,” Mike asked about Game Shac ( a comedy film about a video game store that Freeze wrote). Michael told me, “Thank you for being Freeze’s friend and helping him write it.

Until freeze was free, we had a good time telling jokes and recipe talk about our favorite soul food meals, Mike asked what my dad did for a living, and I said he was in the army getting ready to retire soon. Mike told me to tell my dad to thank him for serving. Mike loved the military and was a big supporter of the troops. I learned that most of Mike’s formation with his dancers is all inspired by troops like in a color guard. Hearing that from Michael was extraordinary because I was new in a new town; I think freeze wanted me to make another new friend. This led up to Mike saying it was a payback period. The album was named that because it would be the album that brings back the old Mike going back to his roots during the Jackson 5 and the days of Thriller. We planned to break Thriller’s record and regroup after the Invincible Album.”

Who would you love to work with if you could, and why collaborate with them?

“I would love to work with Phil Collins because I became a drummer through his inspiration.”

Where is a good place to find your musical releases, and why should we do so? What makes your music iconic in some way?

“My musical release happened from being raised on the road traveling all the time as a kid. There are A lot of good old-school artists out there that deserve to be iconic instead of me. I know that mine does not talk about downgrading women, being drunk in the club, cussing and fussing, with silly auto-tune. We use our real voices. Dr. freeze, Michael, and I are only about the original, the authentic and the old school.”
