Issue Eighteen- October 2021:
By Mercedes Barreto
What defines innovation, despite the competitive industry of entrepreneurs, all trying to make it big? Do we all wait for the next big idea, and how do we spot it coming, and from who? Kyle Langdon-Weyrich is certainly on that list. We read upon his aspirations and successes in this guided yet informative article.
What is the biggest achievement so far this year which you are inclined to share? Where do you see yourself in a few year’s time, and what defines success in that time for you?
“One of my biggest achievements thus far is graduating from college with a Communication
degree early (3.5 years) and with 3.9 GPA overall. I am driven and goal-oriented and know the
value of education. While going to school, I continued to work and even opened my own
company, Picture Esque. I enjoy being an entrepreneur. I have become proficient at developing websites, promotions, and in connecting like-minded individuals. I am interested in new and upcoming opportunities in the entertainment industry, and it is my desire to create the best atmosphere in which members of my company can share ideas and advantages. I hope to grow my company to be one of the premier places to turn to when anyone is looking for professional possibilities. Success to me is not only professional but personal. I want to be happy with my work and with the people I care about. I want to make a positive impact on those I can, and I want to make a difference in this world.”
How has Covid, if at all, impacted your routine, or your life in general, regarding your career? If so, how?
“Covid-19 has impacted my routine because of the inordinate amount of closures in my industry.
The modeling sector was nearly non-existent over the past year and a half so I had to become
creative to continue to work. I was able to secure jobs with independent fashion and print people.
I also got a few gigs for the publishing side with book covers. Things were slower but not at a
standstill for everyone. I was awarded one of the most handsome men on IMBd so that helps me
keep busy. Though some things have stalled, none have been canceled fully thus far. It is my belief
that things will pick up after the beginning of the year. I have focused on my company and
making sure that it ranks among the more prestigious in the industry.”
If you could pick just three words to describe your craft, what are those three words? Why so, and in detail?
“Competitive, Exciting, and Fun. Everyone who is in the modeling, entertainment field knows that it is extremely competitive. It’s critical to bring your “A” game to every chance given. There are thousands of talented people in this arena, and only the best have a chance. I am up for the challenge and believe that I have made my spot in the field. The entertainment world is also very exciting. Because I am a CEO, Model, and Actor. I have been in many productions and have studied my crafts extensively. I have worked with some of the better TV, movie, and commercial companies in my career and have had the pleasure of working with some outstanding people. I have also modeled for top clothing lines and brands. This is all very exciting to me. When I have been presented with the opportunity to practice what I love doing, I consider myself lucky and blessed. I am also an extremely hard worker so I also believe that I have earned it. Without sounding cliche, when I am working I always have fun. I love to be creative. My passion is when I work with other creative people, and the experiences that I have had are amazing. In summarizing my working exposure to opportunities and people, I would say that the word “fun” hardly justifies what I have been able to experience and accomplish.”

When you talk about your profession, do you see it as a working effort that took years to build, or is this something that encases many instances of luck and simple chance?
“I have worked hard in my craft but also credit some very wise and wonderful people for some of
my successes. I wish I was lucky in my successes, but I had to scrape and grind for almost
everything I have done. It takes hard work and because I recognize that it won’t be easy, I give
everything I do, everything I have. I cannot risk mediocrity. Perfection is what I strive for and it
is what I work hard to deliver.”
What are some goals for your work in the future? Why choose these goals specifically?
“I want to be a successful model and want to be recognized as such. I want to prosper and I believe that being happy and fulfilled is critically important. My personal interests and expertise align with my professional as I am, for the most part, an independent contractor. I want to grow my company, Picture Esque. PICTURE ESQUE, a service that connects and promotes models, actors, entertainers, agents, etc. all around the world. I believe that through my company I will be able to provide a forum for those wanting additional information about certain facets in the entertainment industry, for those needing support, or for those just looking to associate professionally. I hope to grow my company to be one of the premier places to turn to when anyone is looking for professional possibilities.”
Where can we learn more about your craft, and why should we? What makes your profession/business special enough to read about it?
“Anyone can learn more about the entertainment business through agencies, education, expos,
photographers, YouTube, and various periodicals. When at photoshoots or runway opportunities,
it is also good to talk to and network with other models. I have secured some important work by
doing this. When this happens, Instagram is very beneficial. I have also gotten jobs through Backstage, Model Mayhem, LA Casting, Network Casting, and word of mouth. Picture Esque is a newer arrival on the scene and is an excellent place where models, actors, entertainers, agents, casting directors, photographers, and other artists all around the world can connect with just a click of a button. My profession is very special in that it provides a person with the opportunities to be creative, to be spontaneous, and to have variety in their careers. There are ample opportunities in modeling and thousands of people, agencies, and other companies searching for that special “look” It is amazing to be a part of this fast-paced, prolific, and lively world. The sky is the limit and this is one industry where hard work really does pay off.”
Anything to add here?
“When I am not working or going to school, I love boating, Alpine skiing (I am an internationally
ranked competitive ski racer), basketball, running, lacrosse, and hiking. I also love music,
cooking, and anything outdoors.”
