Projecto 7- El Vicio De Tu Amor (The Salsa Lover’s Song) (June 2021)

Issue Fourteen- June 2021:

By Mercedes Barreto

In society, it is a real adrenaline-pumping mystery. For some mythical and superstitious reason, we dance. And Salsa Dancing is the dance of the sun and the moon, it’s to say that when two figures come together as one, with two entirely different approaches, but one common goal. What is it about dancing that entices the heart in both sensational and physical, intensely aerobic formats?

Here, Projecto7, the notoriously salsa-loving orchestra and jazz band from Elgin, Illinois, don’t waste a note on telling us what makes people dance when they hear salsa music, from the perspective of the very geniuses behind the compositions of a salsa lover’s escape.

What are some recent advances for Projecto7 in 2021?

“One of the major advances for Projecto 7 Salsa Latin Jazz Band is to continue collaborating with the composer arrangements for our new material hoping to get it out there for our Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube fan club members.

We are putting together new material hopefully to the likes and support of our fan club and of course, our club salsa dancers since after all this type of genre is for the Salsa dancers to enjoy and dance to it all for the Salsa lovers.
We also incorporated a new member since last time we have in our choir voices from New York artist Angel Luis Palermo, his supporters have a lot of influence on our new materials and also in our collaborations with new recording artists from the east Salsa old school artist.
We will continue to work with our collaborations and from our supporters in the Chicago Salsa sense together we hope to continue to be successful in developing future new promotions and gigs to performance since this past year we were out of the lounge scene, hints (Pandemic), we still keep up with the times and things appears to be getting better, post-Pandemic, at least for the time now, we will see shortly.”

Has Covid impacted the band and/or its performances? If so, in what way?

“Covid impacted the band and our performance but not in our silliness to get our talent out there to our fans clubs and Salsa dancers. This past year, 2020 the band was negatively impacted since we had so many gig performances that were canceled and everything came to stop. However, we were able to put together a single and finally uploaded it to all social digital platforms to get our first single released, so we had some setbacks went it came to the gigs performances, however, with move forward and we had the time to gather our musical talent and support and finalize our single, is now available in all digital platforms (Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Dizzier, Pandora, sound-clouds). Thanks to the support and collaborations of all the members involved in the development of our first single, we were able to say to the Pandemic 2020 year here it is for your enjoyment, download, streamed it, and get dancing with our new single, and one more to come.”

What 3 words describe your latest musical release? When is it out, and where can we find it?

“The 3 major words to describe our new releases is Sabroso, Dura, y Riquisimo (flavor, savor, hard, and richness)
These 3 descriptive words in Spanish make more since then after translations, Spanish has more flavor.
The release was back in July 2020, and it took a while to get the music distributed in CD Baby, TuneCore, publishing distribution is now accessible via streaming Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, and Pandora.
Now, with that being said, we are currently working on a second single, but it is not out yet, please, wait for its summer of 2021, on the same digital platforms.”

Do you see Projecto7 rising the ranks over time? How successful have you been? In a few years?

“In just the past 5 years the band has followers of over 12K, we hope to continue this trend for the next coming 5 years, our future single and the single that we have out there now will allow calling our self-recording artist Projecto 7 composing, arrangements, and authors of our own destiny as musicians in this type of genre. We see ourselves moving places and sharing our talent with a larger audience shortly. Look in it have in self we survived a Pandemic epic year by getting together our talent and finally put out there our music to our fans clubs and our Salsa dancers. As a result, I see the Projecto 7 of the future with finalizing 2nd single and a complete album in the coming few years. Right now if you go to our page on Riverbnation.com you will see that our Latin single is number one, in comparison to others out there we accomplish in one year what others have taken 5 or 10 years.
As a result, I see us doing new releases, singles, and finish our album pretty soon, be ready for the Salsa sounds of Projecto 7 and our dancing rhythmic flavor. Wash out Chicago land Salsa lovers and get our singles in our dancing lounges to get ready for the Sabroso, SalsaDura, y Riquisimo Flavor of Projecto 7 Salsa!!!”

Why should people listen to Latin salsa jazz music today, now more than ever?

“Salsa together with Latin Jazz, have an immense influence on today’s music science and it will continue to have an impact on the near future of the music business industry too. We the new roots and the infusion of Requeton, for example (Bad Bunny), the Latin scene music business industry as we know it will boom to look for new talents in the market, we are working hard to keep up with this coming population explosion of LatinX, and with this change the taste of streaming music lifestyles and flavors to download music genre, Salsa is here to stay, I did not say this words I need to give credit to “Tito Nieves” Salsa artist that still is inspiring our people and others in the music Salsa genre Salsa music business industry. We are working on our second single, but we also notice that some of the markets are changing to keep up with the Salsa new listeners we are molding our songs to the new listening streaming new generations of Salsa and Salsa dancers on the dancing floor, you could tell when a dancer is liking the beat, and the steps the incorporate in the dancing Salsa routine make up happy that we are trying our best to get our talent out there and looking forward to enriching the new Salsa and Latin Jazz Chicago land sceneries. Another influence is the impact of Latin Boricuas Jazz, Afro-Cuban Jazz, and incorporated in this type of genre with Salsa leading the pack of new talented musicians on the Latin Jazz world of music. Pretty soon it will be impacted by all types of genre.”

Anything you might add?

“I will like to add, that this talented era of LatinX movement has inspired our talented musicians in Projecto 7 to come out with new material to impact the Salsa market and the Salsa since 2005 and we will continue to impact the future of Salsa dancers with our Salsa Dura, and Sabroso y Riquisimo for the Salsa lovers.
