Discover a new talent sensation and something out of the ordinary. Ride A Pony tells us of their most recent success in this guided rising talent article.
What is music, and what does it mean to you? Personally, or in general?
“For us both, we can’t live without music. It’s a spirit that awakens us every day. We have the same idea about this. We both listen to any music—jazz, rock, blues, heavy metal, traditional, anything.”
When did you get your start as a group? What was that moment like?
“We started to make music together in 2020. But as a duo band, we officially declared August 22nd, 2021. It was a moment when we finally found a music partner we could work with to create good music. Chihiro from Japan, and Neea from Indonesia, met at a bar, and at that moment, after the jamming session, we felt like a match for each other. We grew up in the same era, so getting the same frequency about music would be easier. We admire each other. The way Chihiro plays guitar and composes music is always unique. He has his interpretation of music, always looking for something not similar to different music. And Neea, her voice is rich. She uses several kinds of voices depending on music and emotion. Plus, she has a unique sense of notes or rhythm to choose that remains in an ear.
It was a quick decision for us. And we can make another good music together.”
If you could pick to work with one special musician, regardless of the details or certain limitations, who would you work with today?
“We are very open to any collaboration with all musicians. It will be very challenging, and we need that to improve our music. Every musician is unique. It doesn’t matter whether you are famous or not. Musicians are special to us. But if we speak about working together with no limitations, Jimmy Hendrix would be our choice. He influences world music. So, it must be great to work with him…”
Is there a song that you feel most reflects your style, one that resonates with the musical listening audience?
“Actually, our music is influenced by many songs. We listen to many genres. Every piece we made has a different style. You can find blues, rock, jazz, funk, and metal. We want to reach as many listeners as possible. We want to free ourselves to create our music.”
What has been a challenge or a gift for your musical progress? Why and how so?
“A challenge for our music progress is keeping our originality, our signature. We will keep the taste of 90′ but also want to reach younger listeners. We want to create new things and making good lyrics that relate to all ages is essential. Most of our songs were created based on our experience. About gift… Luckily Ride A Pony members Chihiro and Neea have a chemical reaction, chemistry, something that, even for us, it’s something we didn’t expect. It just happened like that. We match each other. Fit to each other. And that would be the best gift for us.”
Where can we find your music, and why should we? What makes your music unique and iconic in its way?
“You can find our music on digital platforms… Spotify, Apple Music, Joox, Amazon Music, Deezer, Resso, iTunes, etc. Our music is different and unique; it’s a mix of 2different personalities. Both of us have depth in the sounds we make. This combination matches somehow. We cannot explain clearly what it is, but music mixed us two becomes the “signature” that is not similar to any other else. Chihiro with rock background, and Neea with jazz and blues background. The difference enriches the music to the core. The tunes, the sound, everything sounds extraordinary and iconic. You will get addicted to our music as soon as you listen. The uniqueness is that Ride A Pony consists of 2 members, Female and Male, from different nations, Indonesia and Japan.
