What are some recent performances for The Maniacs to note?

“The Maniacs like to play anywhere and everywhere! We play almost monthly at Uncle Tommy’s Tavern in Pearl River (NY). We also play at The Mason Jar (Mahwah, NJ), Shannon Rose Irish Pub (Ramsey, NJ), Casa Del Sol (Nyack, NY), The Doghouse Saloon (TWP of Washington, NJ) and many more local venues. We are always looking to share our talent with audiences in new venues and recently debuted at Barrel 28 in Florida, NY. We also have lots of fun playing at local town street fairs and other public events and fundraisers.”

How has the band gotten through the pandemic and recent years? Any updates in the lives of band members?

“The pandemic was certainly a tough time for everyone, including musicians. The Maniacs took time to re-evaluate themselves internally and make changes accordingly. Coming out of the pandemic with a new lead singer (Tom) and lead guitarist (John) has allowed us to change direction and use our combined talents in a way that fosters growth for The Maniacs. Our bass player (KJ) has been committed to this project for a while and remained with us during this change. Our female drummer, Tracy (who is the only founding member remaining), has taken on the role of bandleader and is excited about the changes that have allowed the band to elevate its performances to higher levels. Our musicians are all involved in other projects simultaneously, yet are committed to juggling life’s demands to ensure The Maniacs remain successful!”

Are there any new songs to note? Why and how so?

“As with any band member changes, there are song changes that must occur to best suit the talent of the band. Many new songs have been brought to the table that vary in genre to some extent. Suspicious Minds, Pride and Joy, Folsom Prison, The Ocean, Roadhouse Blues, My Own Worst Enemy and Summer of ‘69 are just some examples of new songs we have brought to light. We understand the need to change songs that our lead singer can grasp well and that fit his range. Yet, most of the original songs played by The Maniacs continue to be part of our set list as well.”

Why is the band more successful in 2024?

“We have hit the ground running in 2024! We have been rehearsing during the early weeks of 2024 and find ourselves nailing great new songs that we know our audiences will really enjoy. Our level of musicianship combined with new songs has allowed us the opportunity to be hired at new venues as well as ones we already have a relationship with. Our like-minded personalities allow us to work together in a fun and productive way. When everyone combines their efforts there’s no stopping The Maniacs!!”

Is there an industry executive the band would love to work with in the future? Who and why?

“We don’t write or record original music, so nobody in particular at this time.”

Where can we learn more about the band, and why should we? What makes them iconic?

“The Maniacs can be found on Facebook at
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100075292235095 and on Instagram at @themaniacsband. We are in the process of creating an EPK as well. For those that love live music (specifically classic rock) and love high energy, this is the band for you. Our talents come from various backgrounds of greater than 30 years which collaboratively sound “killer”! Band members are as follows: Lead Vocals: Tommy T; Lead Guitar: John (JC docrock) Carucci; Bass: Keith (KJ) Lenn; Drums: Tracy (“thunderstix”) Urvater.”

I have been involved with the Maniacs since their inception, previously as their “sound man” & more recently as their “objective ear in the audience”. I have watched them grow into this new rendition, that l feel, is the best lineup yet musically & personally. They will only grow tighter as a band with each show, and as their cohesiveness increases, so will their audience. Here’s to an awesome 2024!!!!
