When you don’t frequent a certain task, you could remain seldom interested and find yourself urged to move along. Passion is the exception because it never gets old when you love something and are passionate about it. Jessie Lee Montague tells us more about her first recorded release in over a decade, and about her passion for music, and why we should listen to it in this guided and interesting article.

What is the latest album or update which you feel proud of, and would like to share? Why so?

“I’m very excited to announce the release of my first new recording in over a decade.
The name of the album is Unhooked. The first single “TROUBLE” drops 8.13.21.
The full release will be available in November. It’s extra exciting for me, because one of my
favorite producers of all time, Malcolm Burn, mixed a few of the tracks.”

What defines your favorite performance so far in recent times? Why so?

“I haven’t been performing live at all, but I’m very proud of the performances on this upcoming album, I was learning how to record myself so I had a lot of freedom and spent a significant amount of time recording guitar tracks since on all my previous recordings there had always been a 2nd guitar player…yet on Unhooked, it’s all me, and I’m very proud and also psyched about that.”‘

Is there a reason why you feel that now is a good time to listen to your music? What makes right now a great time to hear your latest works?

“We’re at a really heavy time in history, and it feels like global unrest on absolutely every level.

My music has an urgency to it, and intensity, as well as a sweetness and grace…and I, feel like we need ALL OF THAT RIGHT NOW!”

If you could pick a venue of choice, no matter what the venue might be on a global scale, regardless of time and place and other details, where would you perform, and why?

Martyrs in Chicago. I’ve never been there…but I know I would love it. It was one of my favorite
artists and also my mentor (Chris Whitley’s) favorite room to play…so I KNOW I would love it.
Also, the biggest Jessie Lee Montague Music fan of all time lives in Chicago, and I know he’d be
psyched to have me play locally.”
